version 1.0 is a Sydney based theatre company that informs, challenges and entertains audiences with theatre about issues that matter. They open spaces for public conversation, with their collaboratively made documentary performances. version 1.0’s ensemble of artists make contemporary theatre, using media sources, often verbatim. Their work addresses significant social and political issues. Their productions are devised through collaboration and extensive research.
Founded in 1998, version 1.0 inc is a not for profit association, incorporated in NSW. In 2009 it was granted Key Organisation status by the Theatre Board of the Australia Council and currently is triennially funded by Arts NSW. Previous performance works includes The Major Minor Party, The Tender Age, the widely acclaimed The Table of Knowledge, The Disappearances Project, A Distressing Scenario, the Peace Trust Award-winning seven kilometres north-east, the Green Room Award-winning The Bougainville Photoplay Project, the Helpmann Award-winning This Kind of Ruckus, the Drovers Award-winning Deeply Offensive And Utterly Untrue, The Wages Of Spin, CMI (A Certain Maritime Incident) and The second Last Supper.
