CarriageWorks would like to welcome our newest resident organisation, Anna Schwartz Gallery. The gallery was officially opened last week with a new Mike Parr exhibition. Coinciding with the launch of MIKE PARR PERFORMANCES 1971 - 2008 and the Biennele of Sydney, the photographic exhibition showcases Parr's key performance works from the last 37 years.
CarriageWorks is a fitting home for Anna Schwartz. Three of her artists, Sean Gladwell, Lyndal Jones and Mike Parr have exhibited with Performance Space over the years. Mike Parr's work was exhibited at their old home in Cleveland Street over twenty years ago, making it one of the first works ever presented by the organisation.
The wheels are in motion for the launch of the Underbelly: public arts lab and festival. The lab begins next week with regular tours each day up until the Festival. Check out the full lab timetable and all the Festival details at www.underbelly.com.au.
ANNA SCHWARTZ GALLERY
Anna Schwartz Gallery opens with MILK, coinciding with the launch of MIKE PARR PERFORMANCES 1971 - 2008.
Published by Schwartz City, the 900-page volume presents a survey of Parr's key performance works from the last 37 years with an in-depth view via documentary photographs.
MILK references these performances, complementing the publication with large-scale photographs. The exhibition is drawn from the publication itself, as well as including additional images.
MILK is the first exhibition to offer a focused investigation of Parr's ongoing performance projects and attests to the significance of Parr's extensive practice.

Audiences are invited to watch over 200 artists from a variety of disciplines including electronic and live music, sculpture, theatre, sound and video production, physical performance, installation, projection and puppetry - as they collaborate, rehearse and create.

The Festival weekend celebrates the work achieved by the artists in the lab. Artists will rove among the audience, presenting an extravaganza of music, dance, aerials and interactive exhibitions. It will be wild.
